Herbalife Nutrition has brought to the country another leading name in sports nutrition as it recently held its annual grand gathering called “Spectacular” at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Dr. Dana Ryan, who developed the nutrition and sports performance programs of the LA Galaxy and Barcelona FC, dispelled the myth that sports nutrition is only for the elite.
“I thinks what’s really important is we work to dispel the myth that sports nutrition is only for the elite right, because it’s really for the everyday person. It’s for anyone who is active; anyone who is eating to get their heart rate down; anyone who wants to sweat a little bit,” she revealed during her talk.
Dr. Ryan explained that the principle of sports nutrition applies to everybody. Even if elite athletes train hard and their nutritional demands are very high, according to her, what you need to understand is that sports nutrition is based on a solid general nutrition foundation which can apply to anyone: young, old, athletic or sedentary.
“I think a lot of people do need to understand that sports nutrition is for them, but along with that is the question on how you become active. So I think again taking ` baby steps’ will not just help your body, its going to help your brain. Its going to help everything just by incorporating a little bit of physical exercise into your everyday life,” she said as she encourage the public to change their mindset about sports nutrition and start getting active.
Dr. Ryan is among the industry experts responsible for establishing Herbalife as a global leader in sports nutrition. She was tasked to design and manage sports clinical trials of Herbalife- sponsored athletes around the world. Aside from the LA Galaxy and Barcelona FC, high profile sports teams that she worked with included Pumas FC, CR Flamengo, and Liga of Equador.
