De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s School of Design and Arts (DLS-CSB SDA) Dance Program will be presenting “Iba’t Ibang Magkakaibang Pagtatapos” at the school’s 6th floor SDA Black Box. Iba’t Ibang Magkakaibang Pagtatapos is directed and produced by Alyssa R. Palma and is written by Kyle Confesor.
The entire production is the Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance thesis of Alyssa R. Palma. By collaborating with different students from the various courses offered in De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Alyssa R. Palma was able to build her own production team.
Here’s the official synopsis of the production:
The performance revolves around Ruby, a girl who has long dreamed of becoming a famous dancer. Ruby believes she has the potential to be a dancer, however, she never thought that a visit to the mall would change her life.
Martha Lelis, Alyssa Palma, Aileen Quilatan, Aqui Jacob III, Jireh Castro, Karl Louie Caminade, KC Coldenhoff
The theme of the play revolves around self-reflection and the beginnings and endings of different stories. The performance will also tap into how interpersonal relationships impact a person’s capacity for introspection.
The production is quite interesting and they did a pretty good job with the set that is fully equipped with a jewelry store, cafe and a hidden trampoline park. The story follows the lens of Ruby and in the first part of the production, she witnesses the characters inside the mall deal with unlikely events in their daily lives. A robbery takes place, a lost boy struggles to find his mother and a couple fight while Ruby deals her inner thoughts and desires to impress her parents. It balances humor and tragedy with graceful and exciting dance performances that showcase the raw emotion of each of the characters. It is fun and entertaining and if you do have the time, give yourself the chance to see it.
The dance performances will be held at the 6/F Black Box at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts building. The show date is on March 2 at 1:00pm and 7:00pm. Tickets are Php 150 for Benildeans and Php 200 for non-Benildeans. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Shannon at 0917 515 1383 or Ruthie at 9176268710.
