The members of Ford Forza Triathlon Team has, in multiple occasions, showcased their toughness in races across multiple gathers and meets. The team, this year, is gearing up for a strong finish at the Ironman 70.3 on the 6th of August 2017 together with new members and a more rigorous training that started early this year.
The Ford Philippines-backed triathlon team is bound for Cebu to participate in one of the biggest triathlon races in Asia which is anticipated to gather 2,500 athletes from 45 different countries.
Team Captain Gianluca Guidicelli shares that “the team is especially driven this time. We have new members, and everyone is just as excited to race harder and tougher. I have great confidence in my team – we’re strong, we’re all disciplined, we’re committed, and we are all tough. We’re called “Forza” after all. Having Ford, who are just as tough as we are, to back us up once again, only fuels our desire to keep racing and to keep inspiring.”
The new members also are just as motivated much like the brothers Ralph and Christian Du who were both part of a reality TV show “The Biggest Loser” where, Ralph shares that, combined, they have lost about 114 kilos or 250 pounds – about an entire human and some change.
In its early years, the Ford Forza Triathlon Team created an advocacy supporting talented Filipino athletes who love the sport but lacked the means to race – providing then the opportunity to be part of the team.
“Unbeknownst to many,” shares member Matteo Guidicelli, “Ford Forza is not just a team about racing, it’s also a foundation that is aimed towards helping out those want to go further, those who want to conquer even more challenges as well as those who want to be inspired and to inspire just as much.”
As a multidisciplinary sport, triathlon has evolved making it the ultimate endurance test for athletes in the form of cycling, running, and swimming. Earlier this year, the team competed in races such as the Xterra Danao in April and the 5150 Subic Bay Philippines in June. The team also hosted Giro d’Luca, an annual cycling event held in Bohol that brought together cycling enthusiasts.
Catch the Ford Forza Triathlon Team at the following events: the Ironman 70.3 Philippines in Cebu on 6th August 2017, Mt. Mayon ASTC Triathlon Asian Cup in Bicol on 17th August, and the 5150 Triathlon in Bohol on 5th November.
